Los Ilotes seems to be a very nice location to go to for a summer vacation. Your description here made me think if I shouldn’t change the destination for this summer. The best way to get there is via panga, about 30 min north of La Paz. The pangaderos will take you there, or you can arrange a charter. I think it runs about $ 65 a 3/4 day pp trip, and that includes lunches (not gourmet) but does not include a tip for the pangadero. Snorkelling equipment can be rented at many many places in town, or at some of the nicer hotels. I have been going there for years, and I do not leave La Paz without taking at least one trip to Los Isotes. WONDERFUL!!
