Orlando, Florida isn’t just about The Mouse or The Movies. It’s not all about kid’s, either. The Orlando area boasts a host of eclectic annual events that are not to be missed. Here are a few favorites to consider:
Near the end of January (January 20-25 in 2009) party in the streets of Eaton (20 miles north of downtown Orlando) at the Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities for a week long celebration of African American artistry and culture.
Twice a year, in June and February, The Silver Spurs Arena next door in Kissimmee brings the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi to the Orlando area. Enjoy all the classic cowboy events like barrel racing, steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, and my personal favorite, mutton busting.
As part of Orlando’s Endless Summer, the entire month of September is devoted to Magical Dining. Participating restaurants throughout the area celebrate the culinary arts by showcasing their specialties with 3 course prix fixe menus. For either $19 or $29, you can enjoy some of the finest meals Orlando has to offer.
Endless Summer also offers some great shoulder season deals on hotel lodging through the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website or try an Orlando florida rental property, if you’d like to enjoy all the comforts of home during your vacation in Central Florida.
Welcome back!
