St. John ~ An Unspoiled Tropical Paradise

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Beachgoers from around the globe know that St. John is at the top of the list when it comes to phenomenal island locales. The island’s natural beauty is challenged only by the amazing Caribbean sea that surrounds it. Because nearly two thirds of the island is designated as a U.S. National Park, it is one of the most scenic and unspoiled islands in the Caribbean. The weather is beautiful throughout the year, with temperatures hovering in the low 80’s.

Guests who choose to experience the Caribbean in style often recommend one of the amazing St. John vacation rental properties. Many offer unmatched views, private swimming pools, outdoor showers, and more!  Whether you choose to be pampered at a luxury resort, or have a whole island villa to yourself, you’re sure to be pleased with your taste of island life.  While the rentals do come fully-equipped with kitchens, many guests choose to let someone else handle the meal plans.  With over 35 restaurants to choose from, there is no shortage of cuisine to sample.

Outdoor activities are a favorite way to pass the time in the Virgin Islands.  Some consider a great book in a hammock as active as they’d like to get, while others opt to try out some of the area’s favorite water sports.  Some favorite water activities include scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, and fishing.  A trip below the surface of the water will show you the island from a whole new perspective!  The countless tropical fish swimming around, beautiful coral clusters, and variety of marine life continues to keep both visitors and locals in awe of the beauty of the Caribbean.

North Myrtle Beach ~ Top of the Grand Strand

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

North Myrtle Beach is convenient in that it lies just north of busy Myrtle Beach and is adjacent to the North Carolina state-line creating a lesser chaotic beach vacation destination.  For those looking for a much needed respite yet be close to the excitement of Myrtle Beach’s day and nightNorth Myrtle Beach life, North Myrtle Beach is just the place.  Getting here is easy to do with both ground and air transportation conveniently closeby.

When I think of Myrtle Beach, hanging out at the beach of course comes to mind but many flock here to swing the golf club and be challenged by the coastal links of North Myrtle BeachMyrtle Beach GolfHaving fun in the sun in North Myrtle Beach can be had by all ages.  The relaxing part of North Myrtle Beach is what excites me to be honest!

Fishing comes to mind when thinking of relaxing for me and the waters off of North Myrtle Beach produce some great fishing all year-round.  There are several outfitters that can take you out to the deep for some sailfish, marlin and tuna whereas fishing from a pier or in shallower water for red fish, speckled trout and flounderDeep Sea Fishing are a must for a day of fun.

The other main ingredient for relaxation is eating especially fresh seafood on vacation!  North Myrtle Beach is home to several authentic seafood restaurants that will give you your fair share of crab, mussels, crawfish, prawns, various ocean fish and of course a fine prime rib and Crab Legssteak are available for those seeking not to take advantage of the fresh cuisine.

So, when you are planning a beach vacation to South Carolina think about heading a bit north of Myrtle Beach to the top of the Grand Strand.

Get Into The Aloha Spirit ~ Visit The Big Island

Friday, September 11th, 2009

The timing has never been better for planning a trip to Hawaii.  Deals to the famous waileaislands are better than we’ve seen in years!  Whether you’re looking for a swanky hotel on the Kona coast, or a private Wailea vacation rental, there are deals to be had for everyone!

Although all of Hawaii is breathtaking, Wailea is one of our favorite beaches on the Big Island.  Wailea Bay offers amazing snorkeling, sunbathing, sunsets, and much more!  A lava rock formation in the bay attracts a variety of fish, so be sure to bring your snorkeling gear!  In the winter, enjoy watching surfers perfect their craft near the south end of the beach.  Wailea Bay is a state park, and guests can wenjoy showers, restrooms, and changing areas on site.

While visiting the Big Island, be sure to check out Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.  Experience the world’s most active volcano, hardened lava as far as the eye can see, and much more!  Truly a sight to be seen!

For more information on fun things to do on the Big Island, visit GoVisitHawaii.com, one of our favorite resources on all things Aloha!

Point Your Beach Vacation South to Perdido Key Florida

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Growing up in the Southeast part of the U.S. my parents would take us to the Northwest part of Florida mainly the Destin and Pensacola areaperdido-key-sunset where the beaches are pure white and the water an emerald green.  I believe things have progressed since the 70’s and 80’s when we visited there in terms of population growth and hotel construction but the beaches have remained the same; pristine and white.  Perdido Key Florida is located just a stone’s throw from the Alabama state line and sits just west of Pensacola.

Water Recreation

As with most beach destinations, Perdido Key sits on the Gulf of Mexico therefore boogie boarding, rookfishingsurfing, surf-fishing and snorkeling are all apart of the daily beach activities.  What stood out to me was the idea of going on a dolphin cruise which are available in the area.  A pontoon boat with large viewing windows and a low deck surround the boat for close viewing of dolphins and other marine life that reside in and out of the Orange Beach/Perdido Bay area.  Charter fishing is abundant in this part of the Gulf and you can catch snapper, grouper, cobia, mackeral, tuna, wahoo and marlin season to season all about 15-20 miles out in the deep sea.

Dining

When at the beach (any beach that is in my opinion) one must temp the tastebuds with local seafood and coastal delights.  Blue crab claws, calamari, oysters on the half shell, boiledcrabsnbeer shrimp and smoked tuna dip just to name a few can be found at the local Perdido Key seafood restaurant.  I don’t know about you but hanging out on the beach and in the ocean all day makes me very hungry!  With Pensacola just down the street more options in dining, night-life and attractions are available just in case you exhaust all of Perdido Key’s resources.

Lodging

The Northwest Florida coast is full of oceanfront hotels all ranging from 3 to 5 stars in a quality rating.  Other options exist of course.  Why not check out renting a Perdido Key vacation condo or townhouse where you have the place all to yourself and pretty much for the same rates if not cheaper than renting a hotel room.

Thinking about a trip to the Gulf of Mexico this summer?  Keep Perdido Key in mind when you are planning a Florida beach vacation.
